Recent Beauty Items Purchase

Having your office inside a mall isn't easy as you would have to resist the temptation to walk around the mall when you're a little too early for your shift. That is what happened to me the other day. I got there an hour early so I decided to walk around and check out stuff. I had to keep myself from buying a lot of stuff that I saw inside Market Market. I was already holding a bottle of conditioner from Avalon Organics and something from Alba Botanica but I had to control my spending since I just started out on a new job and I'll have to wait a fortnight to get my first pay. So these are the stuff I ended up buying.

Well, this one, I got from GirlTalk. :P

Here are the stuff I bought from Market Market.

ELF Studio Line Blush in Peachykeen and Nichido Mineral Kohl Pencil in Onyx.

The pretty blush! It looks like a golden apricot shade to me.

Product Review: IN2IT Oil Control Powder Foundation

I am more than halfway through this foundation as I have been using it for the past couple of months now. I guess it now deserves the long-delayed review.

After a few months of usage, here it is now.

What I like:
- Finely milled, the texture is smooth and great.
- Does not clog pores.
- Gives a smooth finish, makes skin look flawless.
- Lasts for a few hours on my oily skin, even without primer.
- The Soft Beige shade suits me perfectly.
- Did not break me out as opposed to what I initially thought months ago before using it religiously.
- Price is cheap, less than PHP700 for a compact and refill.
- The sponge that comes with it is okay but I prefer using a kabuki brush.
- The compact is really pretty. It's pink! :P But I prefer a less attention-calling compact like those of Kanebo Lunasol and Shiseido's. :)
- Locally available at most department stores.

What I don't like:
- It sort of oxidizes on me.
- Turns a little pinkish on me.

Overall rating: 4/5
Will I buy again? Yes. That is if I decide not to buy Kanebo or Shiseido Supplist refills anymore.

Have a great week ahead of you all! Ta! :P

Blush Swatches

Heya! I received an email from someone requesting for blush swatches so since I was bloody bored earlier, I decided to fulfill her request so, here are the swatches.

Let's start with NARS blushes.

L-R: NARS Taos, NARS Torrid, NARS Deep Throat, NARS Orgasm, NARS Lokoum

Japanese brands

L-R: Shu Uemura P Pink 30, Shiseido Majolica Majorca (MM) RD255, MM PK333, MM OR322, Kanebo Kate Cheek Color OR-1

Random blushes

L-R: Chanel Irreelle Blush In Love, Chanel Joues Contraste Tea Rose, T. Le Clerc Brun Rose, MAC Mineralize Blushes Grand Duo - Intenso (the lighter shade is like the highlighter)

L-R: Benefit Coralista, Blush from ELF Studio Line Blush & Bronzer Duo, NYX Glow, NYX Natural, NYX Red Cheeks.

Some blushes were not included as I have put some of them for sale. As for the others that aren't swatched, I just got irritated and lazy to do more swatches as I accidentally spritzed alcohol on my face and seeped into my eyes. Nasty.

Anyway, it's almost weekend. Ta-ta, dearies. :P

Fixin' a Broken Foundie

Being the clumsy girl that I am, it is frustrating and saddening to see your fave powder foundies break and shatter into pieces. It is even more frustrating when you have barely used that product and the price is kinda steep. I resolved to putting them on sifter jars and use them as loose powder foundies but I find it messy and kind of a hassle to use it that way. After seeing a fellow blogger's post about her broken MAC Studio Fix Powder, I googled ways to save or fix broken powder foundies. I only needed one thing and that is Isopropyl Alcohol or otherwise known as rubbing alcohol. Most of the alcohol we have here at home is ethyl and I can't use that. Good thing there is a nearby 711 and they have Isopropyl Alcohol that comes with a spritzer - just exactly what I needed!

So here's "The Salvager" :P

1. I evenly distributed the loose foundie on the compact.

2. I spritzed isopropyl alcohol all over it. Not a pretty sight, I know.

3. Just let it dry. An hour will probably do given the very hot weather we have now in Manila.

I was able to save my Kanebo Revue Still Keep and Shiseido Supplist Poreless Powder Foundies. And I can use them with their neat compacts. Yay! :P

I checked if it is safe to use alcohol on powder foundies. It is fine because it even kills all the bacteria residing on your powder foundies. :P

It doesn't look really nice but at least I can use them without the mess and I won't have to worry about the powder making a mess inside my bag.

Ta! Have a great week! :)

Product Review: NYX Rouge Cream Blushes

After being a naughty girl with you guys, I gotta go back to doing reviews. :P

I have always been a powder blush user as it's so easy to use and I have oily skin so it is more recommended than creme blushes. However, I recently started getting out of my comfort zone and started exploring cheek tints, which I was not successful in using, and now, cream blushes. My first cream blush was NARS Lokoum from a sis and I found it a little hard to blend so I went back to using powder blushes. Not until I received NYX Glow from another sis, which is so easy to work with, I then changed my mind about cream blushes. And now, I will review the only 3 NYX Rouge Cream blushes I have.

Natural, Glow, Red Cheeks

GLOW
A very cute and pretty cool-toned bubblegum pink shade with no shimmers nor glitters.

NATURAL
A lovely nude peach-pink shadw with a hint of brown without shimmers and glitters that is true to its name when not overapplied.

RED CHEEKS
Intimidating and scary red in the pan but gives off a reddish fuschia pink tint without the shimmers and glitters.

What I like:
- The blushes are creamy and easy to blend.
- Applies smoothly.
- Buildable - you can go sheer and you can be a Betty Boop should you want to look like her.
- Matte but not flat, makes your cheeks look dewy and gives you a healthy pop of colour.
- Pigmentation is really good. Use sparingly.
- Can be used as a base for powder blushes.
- Cheap yet of good quality. You get value for money.
- Compact is sleek and doesn't look too cheap at all. Pretty practical too.
- Now locally available due to resellers.

What I don't like:
- Some are too creamy and some are too balmy so it's not quite consistent when it comes to texture.
- Lasting power is so-so. That could very well be due to my having oily skin.
- Shelf life is not consistent. Some show 8 months, some show 12 months. C'mon, be consistent.

Overall rating: 4/5
Will I buy again? No, because these 3 pans will take me years to finish. :P

Tip: To achieve an airbrushed effect and to make it look really natural, use with a stippling brush. :P

Swatches
Glow, Natural, Red Cheeks

When blended with a stippling brush:

Red Cheeks, Glow, Natural

Advance Happy Easter Egg Hunting Day! :P

I've been a naughty girl... -_-

I know, I know. I've been a naughty girl. I had to go through the drama of leaving on a jet plane just to go on with the joke. I had to do a little white lie when I answered Crystal's q if it was for real or simply a delayed April fool's day joke. Teehee! ;) If I posted this last 1 April then there's a bigger chance that no one will believe so I delayed this just a little bit. :P

At least I learned something from this joke, though. And that is there is someone (or maybe others that I am not aware of) who would really love to see me go. Tsk tsk. You can't really please everybody. Almost took the joy out of this prank but not enough to do so. :P

But anyway, it was fun and in a way touching seeing those messages. I love you girls! :P

And Kristine, I will really go to SF for a visit one of these days. Let's meet then. :) Read more...

Farewell

I would like to say thank you to everyone who welcomed me into the blog world. It has been a pleasure meeting each and everyone of you. I'm taking this opportunity to say farewell to my fellow bloggers, whom I have considered as friends in this online world. I'll be leaving the country for good on the 12th of April. Time to live a new life. I don't know if I can continue blogging though but it has really been a pleasure getting to know you guys. I wish you all the best. Love you! :)

I'm leaving this cute kitten paw saying bye bye. :P Read more...

Product Review: NARS Torrid

I just recently found out that warm coral pinks work best for me. They look really natural on me, even more than red blushes do. So now, I am finally doing a review on one of my favorite blushes, and the one that took NARS Taos' number 1 spot as my fave NARS blush. :P

NARS Torrid up close

See how gorgeous this warm coral pink blush is? This blush is love! :P Now on to the review.

What I like:
- Gorgeous warm-coral pink shades that flatters fair-medium to even darker skin tones.
- It may seem too shimmery on the pan but when applied, it eventually gives off a healthy and pretty glow.
- This blush instantly brightens my face.
- Pigmented. I only had to dab my stippling brush ever so lightly so as not to overdo my blush.
- Decent staying power. Lasts for hours on my oily skin and a little goes a long way.
- Locally available at NARS Counters in Rustan's.
- Price may seem a bit steep for PHP1350 per pan with 4.5g of product, but I swear, one pan can last for years even with everyday use.

What I don't like:
- None. :P

Will I buy again? Definitely! This won't take NARS Taos' number 1 spot for nothing.
Overall rating: 5/5

Tip: If you have medium-dark skin tones, please do give this blush a try as based on some reviews at MUA, this is "The NARS Orgasm" for those with darker skin tones. :P And if you have a tan, this will definitely give your cheeks a glow. Also good for those who wants sun-kissed cheeks.
