Product Review: Fashion 21 Dipliner

When I was still in the corporate world, I wear eyeliner every single day. It helps open up and define my eyes and somehow makes me look more awake and sharper. But I do not have steady hands and I always end up having streaks and with the oily lids that I have, no pencil liner can last a long time without managing to make me look like a raccoon. But I was glad that I found this product that does not burn a hole in my pocket but does a great job as well. It's my favorite liquid eyeliner - Fashion 21 Dip Liner in Black. It has been a year since I started using this product (I am on my second or probably third tube now though I haven't used it in a long time) so I guess this is the perfect time to give it a review.

What I like:
 - Ease of application. Although my hands are not the steadiest, I can manage to create a fine line on my eyes. It doesn't take a long time for me to be able to do that. Although I see a lot of people tug at their eyelids as they line their eyes, I try not to do that and with this liner, short strokes will do. I have tried the regular form of liquid eyeliner from this brand as well and I really had a hard time using it because of my shaky hands. I don't know how many times I ended up having the product in my eyes. The tip is firm enough and the length is just right to give me enough control over it.
- Staying power. I have mentioned earlier that I have oily lids and it is almost impossible to find a pencil eyeliner that won't smudge on me so I tried using liquid liners instead. This one stays on for hours and I mean hours. I used to work the 9-hour shift and it stays put no matter how hot that day is.
- Easy to remove. Though the staying power is great, it is not difficult to remove. Regular makeup removers, cleansing and/or even facial cleansers do the job in removing this. There is absolutely no need to use cleansing oils just to remove this. Unless of course it is what you really use to remove your makeup.
- Because of the shape of the applicator, it is so easy to create a wing and achieve a cat's eye look.
- Price and availability. I actually forgot how much the exact price is but if I'm not mistaken, it does not cost anything more than Php150. Since this is a local brand, it is widely available on most malls and a few drugstores nationwide.

What I don't like:
- Smells funny
- Even though it lasts for hours, it looks like glue that is flaking at the end of the day.

Overall thoughts: I really like this liner. I have only stopped using this when I started using gel liners. This is perfect for those who wants something that really works without breaking their budget or for those who are just starting with makeup and wants something to practice with.

Will I buy again? Undecided. The only reason why I might not repurchase is that I now prefer gel liners over liquid liners.

Product Review: Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner 01 Black

I am really excited to do a review on the gel liners I have recently purchased. I'll first do a review on Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in 01 Black. Even though I've had it only for 3-4 days, I think I have tested it enough to give it a review.





This is what I considered as the ultimate test. I was able to test it on the very same day that I purchased it. I wore it at around 5 or 6pm. I was out drinking with colleagues at Gilligan's until 12 and actually dropped by a friend's house and drank until 4am. There was minor smudging but not as bad as it would have been if I wore a pencil liner. Or it would've been gone by then considering how hot it was that night plus the fact that I have oily lids to begin with. I even had to use an eye makeup remover when I got home. It withstood my oily lids and I'm really pleased as to how it performed and delivered. I haven't really tested the 24h claim as it might be too much for my eyes but so far, I've no complaints aside from the packaging.

I once again tested it, this time at the back of my hands and rubbed the swatch with my thumb several times. Scroll down to see the results.

Just dried at the back of my hand.

Rubbed once.

Twice.

Thrice.

Four times.

Spritzed alcohol on it and rubbed it with my thumb more than twice.

Spritzed alcohol again and rubbed it with a cloth. Now it's completely gone.

But if you notice how red my skin looks on the picture, you'll see how hard I rubbed it in order to remove the liner. That's how hard it is to rub off and that's the staying power of the liner. I had to put in a lot of effort in removing it and ended up hurting myself a bit. So on to the review.

What I like:
- Very creamy.
- Applies smoothly and glides on the lids without any tugging at all.
- Comes with a brush that is actually pretty good.
- Lasts for hours without smudging or having any traces of it transfer on my lower lash line or undereyes.
- Does not easily smudge but can be easily removed by soap and water.
- Did not irritate my eyes at all.
- Dries up in 60 seconds or so.
- Locally available at Maybelline counters in department stores and Watson's stores nationwide.
- Price is reasonable given the quality. Got this on sale at PHP360, SRP is PHP450.

What I don't like:
- They can do a little better on the packaging. I mean for PHP450, I think it can look a little nicer instead of having a cap made of tin. Looks pretty cheap.
- I had to apply it twice to achieve the black I want.

Overall rating: 4.5/5
Will I buy again? Yes!

Recent Beauty Items Purchase

Having your office inside a mall isn't easy as you would have to resist the temptation to walk around the mall when you're a little too early for your shift. That is what happened to me the other day. I got there an hour early so I decided to walk around and check out stuff. I had to keep myself from buying a lot of stuff that I saw inside Market Market. I was already holding a bottle of conditioner from Avalon Organics and something from Alba Botanica but I had to control my spending since I just started out on a new job and I'll have to wait a fortnight to get my first pay. Among the lippies, my fave is Freedom. It is the perfect nude lipgloss for me. :)
Jewels may look intimidating at first but you only need to dab it on your lips and spread it evenly using your fingers. Your lips will look just bitten. :P

Another lippie and an eye liner

I went out today to sign some bank documents for a friend's business. After signing the papers, we had coffee where his friend joined us. After like two hours at Krispy Kreme in Gateway, I shipped an item then went to Watson's. I bought the Nichido Sheer Lipstick this time in Nude. They look pretty much the same except that Nude is more brownish and Bare Lips is a little more on the pink side. I also got myself a Nichido White eye liner. Been lemming for a white eyeliner so I got one. Oh, I also got a nail polish in Carolina Peach.
