Product Review: Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Rose

I am not a huge fan of lipsticks as most of them tend to be drying and I hate how my lips flake when they get dry. That is exactly the reason why I love tinted lip balms. They are moisturizing and adds a hint of color on the lips. If I will wear a lipstick, I need to make sure it is moisturizing so as to keep my lips from getting dry. After reading a lot of raves about the Colorburst line from Revlon, I decided to buy just one shade first when this became locally available, and that is Soft Rose, which is said to be a dupe of Chanel Rogue Coco Mademoiselle. Let's see how I feel about this product but first, here are a couple of pictures.

I like the quilted design of the tube. Looks kinda classic to me. :)

The word Revlon embossed on the lipstick itself. So Chanel-ish.

A very pretty medium rose shade that is definitely MLBB.

What I like:
- Creamy and applies smoothly on the lips.
- Color is buildable. You can start from something sheer to something richer and deeper.
- Moisturizing. Of course, I apply lip balm first to condition my lips. I never skip that. (This may not be super accurate as I do not apply lipsticks without any lip balm at all.)
- Pigmented.
- Staying power is kinda okay. I still see some color left on my lips even after eating, drinking, and smoking.
- Gives a glossy finish but not over the top.
- No shimmers or glitters.
- Scent is okay, I can barely smell anything, given that I have an annoyingly sensitive nose.
- Locally available at Revlon counters nationwide.

What I don't like:
- A little expensive at PHP575 per tube for a drugstore lipstick.

Overall rating: 4.5/5

Will I buy again? Yes! I'm eye-ing Rosy Nude next. :)

By the way, here's a swatch on my lips. It looks like NARS Dolce Vita.

Hope you're all having a great week so far. :)

  1. I agree! The price is rather expensive for a drugstore makeup brand but if it can really live up to all the raves I've been reading about then it might actually be worth it.

The shade you picked up looks so pretty on your lips! :)

  5. I love that shade on you! I agree, the packaging is so classy. Funny how Revlon "imitated" Chanel by engraving their brand name on the lipstick. Nevertheless, the packaging still looks classy to me.

    Lots of love,

  11. waaahhh!

everyone's raving about this. i have to get myself some. I'm about to run out of my fave lipstick, the VG Cyndi & it sucks that it won't be available here in the Philippines (again!) till they receive their stocks this August!

    My God!
    I can't wait that long!
    *faints*

I sure hope that they would have a great dupe for the Cyndi shade. If so, i'll forever love Revlon!

  13. Hey! I got the Carnation one but I'm still deciding if I should get more or buy some more from another brand. I like Carnation because it's a bit bold and bright pink. I might try a nude one and a light pink one. Thoughts? :)

  14. Mia, Blush and Baby Pink, perhaps? And Soft Nude or Rosy Nude for the nude one? ;D

  15. I just got another one this morning. I tried on Soft Rose and I love it. I bought it instantly. I also tried on Soft Nude but it didn't fit me well. This is addictive! Haha. I also tried on Baby Pink but I already have Carnation which is also on the pink side so I didn't but that. I'm thinking what to buy next. Hehe. :) Btw, I love the finish. No glitters, no gloss. LOVE. IT.

    Keep posting! :)
