Product Review: Prestige Perfectly Matte Translucent Powder + I have bangs!

I received this product as a Christmas gift from a friend. I've been using it on and off due to MAC Blot and other powder foundies but I started using it quite often these past couple of days as a touch up powder. I have it in Oatmeal shade. Guess it's time to give it a review.

What I like:
- It keeps my face matte for 2-4 hours which isn't bad considering that I have an oily t-zone.
- Texture is really nice, applies smoothly on my face.
- Does not break me out.
- Does not clog my pores.
- Shade matches my skin tone perfectly.
- Can be used alone and can provide light-medium coverage.
- Relatively cheap just like all other Prestige Cosmetics items.
- Locally available at Beauty Bar.

What I don't like:
- Not translucent at all and can affect the shade of the foundation if used as a finishing powder.
- No mirror.

Overall rating: 4/5

Will I buy again? Yes, I will buy one this time as I did not have to pay for this one. This can be a good and cheaper substitute for MAC Blot.

Me with Prestige Perfectly Matte Translucent Powder.

And oh, I actually got a haircut last week at Azta Urban Salon in Eastwood. I like what the stylist, Jojit, did to my hair. And I have bangs! :P I was advised by a stylist from Basement Salon to have my hair layered since the curls are at the ends. Now I like my new 'do! And I think I'll stick with that stylist and salon. And his assistant was really nice too.

I remember having my hair permed July last year. It's been almost a year and my hair still has curls when it's supposed to be good for 3-5 months as I was told. I guess I am now really kulot. :)

Anyway, have a great holiday today. :P

Product Review: By Nature Handmade Soaps: Dairy Bar and Citrus White

I decided to join the By Nature Handmade Soaps craze and got 2 bars for testing. Well, I was able to try two By Nature soaps way back in 2007 when it wasn't a big hit yet. I tried the goat's milk and tea tree soaps which I never got to use up anyway as I didn't see anything grand about those soaps. So now I once again decided to give it a try and got the Dairy Bar and the Citrus White soaps.

I was really excited to try the Dairy Bar as I assumed it smelt of milk because of its name. With this soap, I have to admit that it was a major disappointment for me. First, it didn't smell anything like dairy or milk. It was just a strong scent that really triggers my allergic rhinitis. The scent was really annoying and sort of stung. The first time I used it to bathe, I seriously had migraine after the shower. I hated the scent so bad that I immediately grabbed my Honey I Washed the Kids soap from Lush to somewhat take over the irritating scent. I decided to ditch this bar. Maybe they shouldn't have named it "Dairy Bar" as it smells nothing like milk or any dairy product.

As for the Citrus Bar, the scent is still tolerable for me. I like that it has some sort of scrubs or grains in it that can somewhat help exfoliate my skin. I like how this soap lathers and melts like butter on my skin. I can definitely see that my skin has lightened up a bit but it's not as quick as Cyleina's Black Pearl Soap. I was kinda looking for a more citrus-y scent but it's nothing like that. It was kind of moisturizing but not moisturizing enough for me. I'll just use up this bar and stick to the soaps that work for me.

Overall, these soaps disappointed me big time. I was expecting more from a soap that costs PHP125 per 100g bar but there's nothing really special about it. The scents were major disappointments. For the price of these two soaps combined, I would've gotten like 4 bars of Cyleina soaps or perhaps another 100g bar of Lush Honey I Washed the Kids Soap. I bought these soaps due to the raves but rather found them utterly disappointing.

Will I buy again? NO. I wasted my money on these soaps.

Did my review just got stolen?

For some reason, I encountered my review of the Marionnaud N32 Slanted Blush Brush on a site other than this one. I encountered it here.

And they did not even bother to contact me if they can "use" my review or something. If there is a live person behind that site, please remove that post. You copied every single word except for the picture. I took the time to write that review, not only for someone to use it without my knowledge. If they did contact me, it would've been fine. But that was sneaky and a form of stealing, IMO. If it's just a bot responsible for that, all I can say is "Jeez!".

I took screen shots just in case that post gets removed. At least I have proof.

Is there anyone who has encountered the same thing? :(

It's just annoying. Read more...

LUSH Honey I Washed the Kids Soap

I'm on my second or third bar of this soap. I've used this on and off because I find it quite expensive for a bar of soap, like PHP245 for 100g. But last Saturday, I couldn't resist the temptation of buying this soap as I really love the scent. It's not too sweet and not too strong. It's just the overall smell inside the store that triggers my sneezing. So I hurriedly told the sales assistant at Lush EDSA Shang that I want a 100g of this soap and then paid quickly so I can get outta their store.

Looks and smells really yummy, I want to take a bite of it! :P

This soap is super awesome. It gives me simple pleasures whenever I lather this on my skin. It's one way of pampering myself at home. Smells so luscious that it feeds my senses. It leaves my skin moisturized and the best thing is it doesn't break me out when I used this on my face. To simply describe this soap, it's "pleasure in a bar". Love it!

Now, will I buy again? Yes! But I won't be using this soap religiously. I'll use this only on days when I feel so stressed and want to pamper myself within the comforts of my own bathroom. :P

A Daddy and a Daddy's Girl

There was once a little girl who was daddy's little princess. He was her prince charming. They would do things together. She uttered her first word while lying on his tummy. He brought and picked her up from school, sometimes even staying there, waiting for his little girl. They'd do things together as her mommy's super busy with work. Her favorite word was daddy and her world revolved around him. She even asked him, "Daddy, will you marry me when I get older?" which brought a huge smile on his face and even on her mom's.

The little girl then started growing up and wanted to know what's out there in the real world. But her daddy never allowed her to go out with her friends, even though she was already in high school. When she was 14, she once asked him, "Daddy, how come you never allow me to go out with my friends? The mall's just a few minutes away from here. I'm the only one who can't go malling with them." He simply told her, "Your mommy and I just want to spend all the time with you while we still can as you will eventually get older and would want to hang out with other people more than us." But she refused to understand what he said and became rebellious. She even said some mean things to her dad that broke his heart and made him say that she's no longer the same girl that he used to have, but still, he continued to love her as she is his child.

After a year, the daddy found out that he has cancer and was told that he only had 4 months left to live. When his daughter got home from school, the dad hugged her tight and started crying while he told her that he's sick. That's when she realized how wrong she was and she regret being a bad daughter. While he was under medication, they did their best to rebuild their relationship. She took care of him and prepared his medicines, served him breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He was finally doing better and lived beyond the 4 months he was told. Even though he was not allowed to have meat, he still cooked for her. And it was still delicious even though he never tasted it. He'd still wait for his daughter by the gate after school and would carry her bag for her as they go inside the house. They thought everything was going well for them.

Then the summer of May 2000 came. Everyone was busy for college applications. He was going to accompany her to get application forms for the UPCAT on 11 May. On the evening of 10 May, the whole family spent the evening playing cards and laughing their hearts out. It was kind of odd as he never played cards with them before. He doesn't like cards. The 11th of May came and he told his wife and his daughter that they'll go to UP on another day as he was having tummy pains. After the mom gave him meds, he told her to go to work as he'll be fine. During lunch, he asked his daughter to buy ice cream and they shared it.

It was already mid-afternoon when he told her to call his in-laws as he can no longer bear the pain in his tummy. They came and rushed him to the hospital. The daughter realized her dad was in so much pain as he kept bugging the doctors for pain killers but they won't give him any as the signs are not good. She felt utterly helpless as she cannot do anything to help ease the pain of the man who has protected her from all the pain out there all throughout her 15 years and has done everything to cheer her up when she's sad, made her smile on the days when she was feeling blue, and gave her the best hug that made her stop crying when she was hurt. She stayed beside him and told him to wait for her mommy as she is on her way to the hospital and he nodded. Then after an hour and a half, everyone started rushing to her dad's bed and tried to revive him. But it was too late. Her dad was gone. Then the mom came just as they proclaimed he was officially dead. Her world fell apart and she felt like a helpless little girl without her prince charming and uttered the words, "You said you'll never leave me" on his funeral.

After a couple of years, while fixing his things as they were preparing to move to another house, she saw a card that has her name on it. She opened it and found out that it was a card he wrote on her very first birthday. It even told her to read the card when she's old enough to understand. She was supposed to be named Paul as he was expecting to have a baby boy. Instead, he had a baby girl. On the card he wrote, "I was expecting a baby boy but when I first saw you and your smile, I told myself that you are my child and it no longer matters if you're a boy or a girl. I love you so much that my whole life would be nothing without you. I love you, child." And he spent 15 years loving her unconditionally.

It has been 10 years since my dad passed away and I terribly miss him. I once remember an interview where the interviewer asked me that if I have just one wish, what would I wish for. Of course, it's to have my dad once again. I had no intention of posting anything like this but someone at ym sent me a message with a happy father's day greeting and told me to go hug my dad. I told him that I'd give anything just to be able to once again hug my dad and feel the same comfort and love that I'll never ever feel in the arms of any other man. I used to hate this day as I thought it was so unfair that other girls get to celebrate this day with their dads and I can't. But you know what, my thinking has changed. I smile just by seeing little girls and their dads being sweet to each other. At least through that picture, I get to remember how my dad and I used to be and I'll never lose that image of him holding me.

So to all of you whose dads are still alive and kicking, spend all the time that you can with them as they won't forever be here with us. I so envy you. :)

Happy Father's Day! :) Read more...

Product Review: Palladio Herbal Lip Slix - Rosewood

I don't know why but I've been checking out lippies lately. Am I on a lippy phase or what? Anyway, I'd like to share one of the lippies I have recently discovered and ended up liking very much. It's the Palladio Herbal Lip Slix in Rosewood. I'll share with you guys why I am liking this product but first, lemme show you some photos.

Swatch at the back of my hand

Lip swatch

What I like:
- Glides smoothly on the lips.
- Not too glossy nor too matte for a lip crayon.
- Creamy. The texture and consistency is just right.
- Pigmented. You only need a little product on your lips.
- Can be worn alone but still best to have a lip balm underneath for better results.
- Already glossy but if you want more gloss, you can always top it off with another gloss.
- No shimmer or sparkles.
- A pretty peach-nude lippy and can be worn at any time of the day and even in the office.
- Staying power is pretty decent.
- Locally available at Beauty Bar for only PHP325.

What I don't like:
- You need to have a jumbo pencil sharpener, of course, the one for cosmetics.
- Since it is creamy, it kinda melts a bit.

Overall rating: 4/5

Will I buy again? Maybe as I'm not sure that it'll still be available by the time I finish this up. You know how companies have a knack for discontinuing products you really like? So I'm not keeping my hopes up that this might be a permanent thingie.

Here's a half FOTD of me wearing this lippy.

Have a great week, everyone. :P

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick BG 949

Last night, I was at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell for something exciting. But as I checked out the line for cabs, it was quite long so I decided to do a little strolling and ended up at the Shu Uemura store. I was checking out the lippies and I was instantly called by this certain shade which turned out to be BG 949. It was love at first swatch. When I finally got home, I decided to give it a try but realized it was a little off on me. :( So since I always always apply lip balm first before any lipstick, I applied MAC TLC Gentle Coral on my lips then layered the Shu lipstick on top and voila! Perfect! It's definitely MLBMB (My Lips But Much Better)! So here's my new baby.

It's a very pretty beige-pink-nude lipstick that can be used everyday. Creamy and pigmented.

Loving it so far! Will review soon. :P

Product Review: Shiseido Supplist Poreless Powder Foundation

Time to finally review my HG powder foundation which is Shiseido Supplist Poreless Powder Foundation. The shade I was using back then is O40 which turned out to be a tad dark for me. As I am finally getting my old skin color back, my shade jumped from O40 to O00 which is the lightest shade. My exact match is O20 but since I am acidic, I have to go a shade lighter as it will eventually turn dark on me. So that makes O00 perfect. Anyway, on to the review.

What I like:
- Texture is super amazing. Smooth and silky.
- Powder is finely milled.
- Although it does not totally make your skin poreless, it somewhat blurs out the pores on you skin.
- Oil control is good as it lasts for a few hours on my oily skin.
- Blends amazingly well with the skin, as if it's your second skin.
- Skin feels soft and smooth upon application.
- Gives medium - full coverage, depending on how you want it.
- Finish is flawless and simply amazing.

What I don't like:
- It oxidizes on me.
- You have to buy a compact and refill separately as you can see on the third photo above.
- Kinda expensive but hey, my first compact lasted for more than a year (though I used it on and off)
- Discontinued and replaced by Sheer Mattifying.

Overall rating: 4.5/5. I don't know if you noticed that I used the word "amazing" thrice on my review. Well, that's how much I love this. :P

Will I buy again? No. As by the time I use this all up, Supplist Poreless may no longer be available so I'm off to try Sheer Mattifying next.

Price: PHP1650 for the refill and PHP998 for the compact.

Tip: If you want sheer or light coverage, use a kabuki or powder brush in application.

Blush Love: ~*~Shu Uemura Glow On M Pink 30~*~

Here's another Shu blush that I am liking so far. I've had this for a week now and I just keep forgetting to make a post about it. So here are photos of Shu Uemura Glow On M Pink 30.

M Pink 30 is a very pretty matte pink shade that isn't flat at all. It may seem boring at first but give it a couple of minutes to blend on your skin and you'll see a certain glow on your cheeks.

Swatch

Been using it since the day I received it and I am liking it a lot. I never thought pale pinks can work for me. But it does. This blush rocks! :P

Have a great week ahead of you. Love the bed weather and the rainy season. :)
