In my book, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup is the most long lasting foundation I've ever had and the one that does not budge at all. If you check out my review last year, I thought that it already felt light, but that was before I met Japanese liquid foundations which feels unbelievably light on the skin. That was when I realized how ELDW felt too heavy, at least for me, so I gave it up. It was when I started reading raves about the lighter version of it which is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light that I became curious with that brand's foundations. Some said it was like tinted moisturizer while some claimed that it has coverage but feels so much lighter than the original. When I was able to score a tube of this foundation online, I was so excited that I started wearing it straight for days. Anyway, here is my review of this product.
Estee Lauder says:

What I like:
- It definitely does feel lighter than the regular Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup.
- I like the sleek tube packaging. It is much more sanitary and hygienic than the bottled, regular ones.
- It stays on my face for at least 5 hours.
- Gives a natural finish and definitely not flat matte.
- No white cast on photos.
- Has SPF 10. Though it isn't enough, I'm glad Estee Lauder made an effort to add sunscreen to this foundation.
- Locally available at Estee Lauder counters at Rustan's.
What I don't like:
- While it feels lighter than the regular Double Wear Stay in Place foundation, it still feels heavy and mask-like for me. It is nowhere near like a tinted moisturizer. Please.
- It oxidizes so bad that I look like a lighter version of Oompa Loompa.
- It clogs my pores and dries out my skin really bad. Well, it does control oil.
- Even the lightest shade, Intensity 1.0, has pink tones in it. Not yellow enough for me.
- Kinda pricey for Php 1900/tube (roughly $45).
Will I buy again? Definitely not. Sorry Estee Lauder, this product was a disappointment for me though I tried to like it. I really tried.

Have you tried this foundation? How do you find it?
Happy 2012, everyone! :)
Cheers,
Ouch, 1900 is a big amount to pay for a disappointing product.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that you had problems with this, sis. Oh well, there are some not so good products out there...
Chrissy @ Cosmetic Fixation
@Chriselle Sy I couldn't agree more. I guess I should stick to my dear Japanese foundies. :D
ReplyDeleteI actually like this product, but I wear a Shu Uemura 564 (Neutral undertone). If you wear a 964, EL foundations in general will not be yellow enough for you. This is meant to be a full-coverage foundation, despite the "Light" in the name! Sorry you didn't like it!
ReplyDeleteaw, too bad it didn't work for you...i really can't imagine myself looking like a Oompa Loompa...lol ~^_^~
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Grace!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteMaybe you got the wrong shade? Intensity 1 is not right for Filipino skin! I think personally I would look like a ghost if I had bought intensity 1!!! I'm NC30 in mac so I got Intensity 3 for the ELDWL and it's perfect.
ReplyDeleteHi there! Intensity 1 turns dark on me so I cannot even imagine how dark Intensity 2 and/or 3 would be on me. :)
DeleteThis is actually my HG foundation. It doesn't ever oxidize on me. This is my go to foundation everyday and when u use a stippling brush it is not heavy at all and is very long lasting :)
ReplyDeleteGood that this works for you enough to become your HG foundation. :)
DeleteGreat review!
ReplyDeleteI can't ever make my mind up on this foundation. I loved the original Double Wear foundation but it definitely seemed to cake after a while. The light version is PERFECT in coverage and texture for me, it really does look like 'second skin'.
But of course, it oxidizes into a pink-toned colour and I have to take it down the neck a bit. I'm intensity 2, and have been tempted to try and check out intensity 1 but really think it would be too light and just appear ashy on certain areas. Would really appreciate if they looked into extending the colour range since the original has a much wider range than this.
I've noticed their intensities are done in decimals though... I wondered if anyone knew if there are 1.5,2.5,3.5, etc? I've seen a 0.5, but I can't seem to find it anywhere online?
