If you are a frequent liquid foundation user with combination-oily to oily skin, you need to set your liquid foundation to help it last longer. A powder that does that while making your skin almost perfect looking is something that is tempting, if I may say so. The MUFE HD Powder promises to blur out your pores, making your face look as flawless as it can be on camera or videos. I gave in to the temptation when I purchased it and I am now giving it a review.
What I like:
- The powder is very finely milled so I can imagine how this fills in the pores making the skin appear poreless and flawless.
- Almost translucent and a very light dusting does not change the color of foundation.
- A little goes a long way and heed my advice when I say you only need very little of this product applied with a very light hand.
- The packaging is simple and straight on with no fancy packaging and all the works that makes a product more expensive.
- Talc-free for this who are allergic to talc.
- It gives a matte but not flat look but give it a few minutes to set and your skin then becomes glowing but not obnoxiously glowing.
- Makes the skin feel silky, smooth and velvety to the touch.
- Helps makeup last for hours.
- Locally available at MUFE counters.
What I don't like:
- Finely milled as it is, it feels chalky on the hand but not on the face.
- It makes my skin itch.
- Pretty messy as it gets everywhere!
- Do not ever apply too much of this as this will definitely add an unnatural ghastly white cast on pictures. People forget that this is for film and not for flash photography, thus, they tend to over apply it especially on the under eye area and bam! They have white patches under their eyes. I won't blame it on the product because incorrect use of it with unpleasant results isn't entirely the product's fault.
- Pretty expensive for a setting powder. I got the 5mL travel size of this for Php 850 (roughly $20) on eBay.ph and I am more than certain that it costs more in the store.
Will I buy again? No. Simply because I get allergic reactions to it and I prefer pressed powders.
Overall rating: 4/5. I still gave it a 4 because the product is really nice but as with any product, it just isn't for everyone like how it made my skin itch.
If you are not always in front of the camera, filming videos, you can definitely skip this powder and if you are into flash photography, be very, very careful with this product.
Have you tried this powder?
Have a blessed Sunday, everyone. And Happy Father's Day to all your dads and all the dads out there. Give them the warmest hug ever! :)
Cheers,
Ok. this one's off my list. Getting the Ben Nye one instead :D
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try one from Ben Nye too! The Banana Visage powder, but I always forget about it. :)
DeleteHi Pammy thanks for your thoughts on this. I was meaning to try this but I think I can safely skip it.
ReplyDeleteOh, maybe you should still give this a try? Who knows, you might end up liking it a lot! :D
DeleteToo bad for the allergies, but I heard this product is fantastic! x

Yes, if you aren't allergic to any of its ingredients and if you don't get too excited and apply too much, I'm sure this will be a fantastic product for you. :)
DeleteI actually have my own finishing powder and it's way cheaper. Hehe. But this one looks nice naman and what I noticed from this product is yung packaging, I love products na minimalist lang yung packaging. :)
ReplyDeleteTrue! When comes to packaging, I think I am kinda "bipolar". Haha! I sometimes like minimalist ones, and other times, I like cute and fancy ones. :D
DeleteI was not pleased with this product either.. I had NO idea why it was so hyped and raved.. that was a few years back. I'm glad we're on the same wave-length though!
ReplyDeleteHehe. Glad to know that I am not the only one in blogger who is not THAT pleased with it. :D
Deletei'm sorry you skin itches with this.
ReplyDeletei got the hd primer from ellana a couple of years back when this mufe launched. LOL
the ellana mineral's one isn't itchy on the face and gives the same effect as this ^_^
I remember having tried several finishing powders that are mineral makeup but I have not tried that one from Ellana. Maybe I should check it out soon. :)
Deletei actually have the elf one and i love it!! works wonders.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have read reviews of the ELF one saying that it is comparable to this one! Glad it works well for you. :)
DeleteI miss you Pammycakes! I agree that overapplying this HD powder can be very unphotogenic. It's too bad it didn't suit your skin ---- sensitive pa rin talaga ng skin mo sis! :)
ReplyDeleteI miss you too, Argie! Yeah, too bad. Okay pa naman sana this finpow. :)
DeleteAnd yeah, that was the first warning I read about this product especially when used as a setting powder for under eye concealers. :D
I actually tried this on and hated it! Too bd about that allergic reaction :-/

Oh, how come you hated it? I'm curious!
Deletenice in-depth review! but yeah, i agree too expensive for a product like that :( But then again, the brand is a high end one.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, wait til you find out how much a pot of Chanel loose powder costs! Haha! :D
DeleteI'm glad someone else disliked this product as well. While I didn't have an allergic reaction, I just didn't find it that impressive. If you can, you should check e.l.f.'s HD finishing powder. Has the same effect for $6!
