Product Review: Benefit Posietint

I failed on my first few attempts in using lip & cheek tints. I had a hard time blending the tints on my cheeks and trying my best to not make myself look like Betty Boop. Anyway, when I first had the chance to use a pink tint from Kiko Cosmetics, I realized that maybe red or cherry-colored tints are too harsh for my skin color and that pink tints look more natural on me. I was then lemming for Benefit Posietint when Tish said she'll give me a Posietint mini, which she did when we went to the Lux Asia Sale last April. (Thanks again, Tish! :)) Anyway, here is my review.

What I like:
- A very pretty shade of pink that looks natural (at least on me).
- Intensity of the color can be built up.
- I find this easy to blend as compared to the other tints I have tried.
- Lasts a fairly long time on its own on my combi-oily skin, say, 4-5 hours?
- Has not caused my skin to break out.
- Has a scent that is tolerable, nothing bothersome.
- Locally available online, thanks to re-sellers.

What I don't like:
- You have to be really quick in blending as it tends to dry fast and leave a stain on where you have initially dotted it.
- Pretty expensive for a cheek tint.

Overall rating: 4/5

Will I buy again? Yes, but I won't buy a full size. I would go for the 4mL travel size since it is a tint and has a shorter life span than powder products.

TIP: When buying online, be extra careful as there are a lot of fake Benefit products especially on eBay. Make sure to check the seller's feedback before bidding or clicking on the Buy-it-Now button. If there is at least a feedback or two stating that the item/s (especially if it is Benefit/makeup in general) is/are fake, be wary. Also, if the price is too good to be true (eg. Php 700 for a brand new with box full size Benefit Posietint/Benetint and you're not sure if the seller is reliable or not, chances are it really is too good to be true.). Still better to add a couple hundreds more and be sure that your item is authentic than go for a cheaper one while there is no guarantee regarding its authenticity.

Have you tried this tint? How do you like it so far?

P.S.
Sorry for having to "UP" my post/entry. I was adding pages on my blog when I made the silly mistake of doing a post instead of a page. :(

Happy Monday, super awesome peeps! Have a great week ahead of you. :)

Some Kinda Product Review: Majolica Majorca Rouge Magiex in PK-313

Despite being sick last week, I went to the mall thinking that a new environment can help make me feel better. Well, it did help a bit but my wallet didn't feel any better. Anyway, I spotted  the Majolica Majorca counter in SM Cubao when I passed by since I was headed to Gateway Mall and I was actually thrilled to see it. I have never gone to any of their counters because they are far from where I live and I felt like a kid seeing lotsa toys for the first time, perhaps due to the really cute packaging Majo Majo's products have. I wanted to try the foundation (since I thought it might fit in my Shiseido Sheer Mattifying Compact compact) and the pressed powder but I had to stop myself because... just because. I didn't feel like buying a lot but I just couldn't go home empty-handed from that brand so I chose this lip gloss. I am not too keen on lip glosses because of the sticky feeling, blame it on MAC, but thanks to some sort of divine intervention, I picked this one up. On to the review, gotta stop blabbing.

As usual, the fancy packaging made me feel all girly and happy. Plus the color on the tube looks like a shade I would adore. Correct me if I am wrong but I think that the tube is just about the size of MAC lip glasses.  It is a very pretty peach-pink shade or a medium pink shade that isn't too pigmented. It smells nice though somewhat artificial. It has a slanted doe-foot applicator which, I think, can easily get in the corners of the mouth. I have never used the applicator anyway so please don't quote me on that.

I swatched it at the back of my hand using a lip brush and feeling artsy fartsy that day, I formed a heart. The color is really pretty but there was something on the swatch that worried me. I saw glitters!!! Still, I applied some on my lips and I knew right away that I will never touch this gloss again. It felt gritty and a bit rough on my lips. It's not super sticky, which is good news, but I could not take the grittiness of it. It also made my lips feel itchy, perhaps due to the glitters. :(

In as much as I find the color selection of their Rouge Magiex pretty, I don't think I would ever dare touch one again and I have never used this again since the day I bought it. I feel like I wasted a good Php 495 for this one. But to those of you who love lip glosses and do not mind glitters at all, you may want to check this out. This all boils down to personal preferences so I cannot really rate this product as bad simply because I hated the glitters. Oh, this also does not stay true to its color on the tube as this goes on sheerer than it really is. Those who want pigmented lip glosses may also not totally like this. :-\

Have you tried these glosses from Majolica Majorca? :)

I have based this review on just the one time I tried it, thus, the title.

Cheap Find: Maybelline Color Bloom Lip Balm in Peach Blossom

While I love my Mentholatum Lip Ice Sheer Color, I realized that I cannot reapply it as often as I need to because the pink tint on my lips tend to look unnatural. So I thought of just sticking to their regular lip balms which I also love, Lemon being my favorite. I was about to repurchase the Lemon variant when I saw something new from Maybelline that resembles Sheer Color and I found out it's one of their latest products which is Color Bloom.

There are two shades available. A pink one and this - Peach Blossom. I chose this one because I thought that the pink shade just might be the same as the one from Mentholatum. I saw on the cardboard packaging that it has fragrance so I just hoped that it would not be strong.

It really does look like Lip Ice. It also turns to a peach-pink shade (at least for me) but the intensity depends on your body's PH level. I like that it looks natural even though I reapply a few times. It is fairly moisturizing and leaves a nice tint on the lips. I like it, the packaging is really cute too. My only gripe is the scent. I find it a bit strong for my liking. I only wish they have an unscented one and I would gladly buy another tube. Between this and Mentholatum, I am leaning towards this one because of the color plus it is cheaper by 50 bucks as this costs only Php 99.

I thought that posting this was pretty pointless because it appears almost transparent but I see a hint of color. Or I'm just imagining things?

Current Favorites + CozyCot

I decided to stop doing my monthly favorites post since my favorites for last month is like a repetition of my favorites for the previous months so I deem it pointless to post about the same things over and over again. I decided to just do a Current Favorites post instead of a May Favorites post. And besides, due to the sweltering heat of the sun these past couple of months, I didn't feel like wearing makeup at all. Anyway, here are my favorite products at the moment.

FACE:
1. Celeteque Facial Moisturizer - I needed something very light and water-based to keep my skin moisturized without the heavy, sticky feeling. This product perfectly fits the bill.

2. YSL Matt Touch Foundation - A foundation with mousse-like texture that feels just like a primer. It lasts for a fairly long time too even in humid weather conditions. My favorite thing about it is that it feels light on the face, as if it's not there. I only wear this when I go out though.

3. Maybelline Dream Matte Powder - The powder that I use everyday that helps keep the oilies at bay.

4. Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV - I recently got this from AdamBeauty. I just wanted to try BB creams from Japan since most of the BB creams in the market are from Korea. And of course, I adore Kanebo. :)

5. Kanebo Coffret D'Or Beauty Lasting Pact - my HG powder foundation. I'm not straying anymore. :)

CHEEKS:
1. Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Calypso Coral - A coral-pink cream blush that I am hooked into right now. :)

2. Kanebo Coffret D'Or Blush in PK-22 - A sheer pink blush that gives a glow from within look on the cheeks. I love using this on top of Bobbi Brown Calypso Coral.

3. Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush 10 - I grab this blush when I can't decide which blush to wear. :P

LIPS:
1. Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate - I love tinted lip balms and this is coral-pink. I could not ask for more.

2. Maybelline Color Bloom in Peach Blossom - Works just like Mentholatum Lip Ice Sheer Color but this one  turns to a peach shade that looks more natural and more inexpensive too.

EYES:
Skinfood Choco Powder Eyebrow Wood Pencil - Looks natural on my eyebrows.

SCENT:
DKNY Be Delicious - refreshing fruity scent

MISCELLANEOUS:
Japanese Kokeshi Doll Pens from Kimmi Doll (Php 325) and from eBay (Php 30) - the cutest pens everrrrr! :P

So these are my current favorites. Hopefully, they change on a monthly basis.

Anyway, I'd like to share a short article I have written for CozyCot. To read the write up, please click on the picture.

What are your current favorites?

Happy Saturday, super awesome peeps! :P

Fashion and Scrubs

Who says people in the medical field cannot look fashionable? I vividly remember the time when I was a kid and I was mighty scared of doing hospital visits because everyone, aside from visitors and patients, was wearing white. And as a kid with wild imagination, that didn’t give me a very nice image of hospitals, and stories from nannies and movies did not help either. But things really do change as time goes by, and that includes white hospital uniforms and scrubs.

Just as any fashion style, scrubs eventually evolved overtime. From old boring white scrubs, there are now different prints, patterns, and colors that you can choose from for men, women, and kids. And there are also jackets and unique scrubs like scrub hats for women. Yes, a hat.

I have come across the website http://www.blueskyscrubs.com and I was amazed with how much variety there is that people can choose from when it comes to scrubs. There are also lab coats and shirts, and even accessories like bracelets and lanyards. And with so many nice scrubs to choose from, it would be close to impossible to not find anything that suits your needs while looking fashionable at the same time. Read more...

Product Review: Milani Baked Powder Blush in Corallina

As I have mentioned on my previous posts, I've been digging coral-pinks lately, thus, the reason for me buying this Milani Baked Powder Blush in Corallina. After seeing positive reviews and gorgeous swatches, I was immediately sold so just imagine how excited I was when I finally got my hands on this blush. It was love at first sight and swatch. But did I actually fall in love with it? Let's find out. :)

Corallina is a gorgeous coral-pink shade with gold and white/silver veining, which will remind you so much of MAC MSFs. I remember having a product almost the same as this one from Physician's Formula, and a baked Chanel JC Blush. While the color is very lovely, the texture isn't. I find it powdery and a bit rough and chalky. Not as smooth and pressed and finely milled as other baked powder blushes. It is pigmented, though, so those who prefer pigmented blushes might like this, especially if you are not too keen on texture and stuff.

It has a separate brush compartment and mirror. I never really understood why the mirror has to be on the back side of the blush. It just doesn't make sense to me why anyone would enjoy flipping the product over just to see yourself in the mirror. As usual, the brush included is scratchy.

Gorgeous on the pan, swatches beautifully. I thought I would love it to bits but I was disappointed when I realized that it made me look sunburned. Someone asked if I've gone to the beach because she thought my cheeks were sunburned and I was wearing this blush. That happened not just once, not even twice, but thrice. And that isn't a good sign. So off it went to the For Sale list and it's now on its way to a new mommy. Such a shame that a blush as pretty as this gave such an effect on me. And it didn't even cause any allergic or bad reaction so we would've had a good relationship if it weren't for the sunburned look. That being said, I won't buy another baked blush from Milani. Not even my love for coral-pinks saved this from getting sold to someone else. But then again, a lot of bloggers love this blush so do give it a try. Each product has varying results on different people anyway. This is really pretty but it just doesn't work for me.

Have you tried this blush? Love it?

Happy Friday, super awesome peeps! :P

On Bags and Fendi

Before I became a makeup addict, I was once addicted to bags. I remember having more than 30 bags in my closet, most of which were never used. I was kind of brand conscious but not the type who would spend thousands and thousands of money just for one single bag. But I do remember buying a Fendi purse back then and I remember it being sturdy even though I was not too good to it.

I think my love for bags is slowly coming back because I find myself looking for bags online more often than I look for makeup. I came across a website that sells a variety of Fendi items, from shoes and bags, to wallets and belts, and even hats for both men and women. The prices aren’t sky high too and they are actually discounted so it is definitely good news to all fashion enthusiasts out there who are looking for authentic products for less.

Of course, the Fendi handbags were calling my name and I saw a style or two, or probably even more, that made me say, “I want that!” but there are also other bags from other brands that also caught my eye. With all the nice bags on that site, it may be confusing to decide which one to get, but then again, a girl can never have too many purses, right?

Happy Friday, super awesome peeps! :P

Product Review: Guerlain KissKiss Stick Gloss in Corail Des Mers

I have been meaning to post this since last Sunday but I was down with the flu (darn virus and still sick up to now) so I have a lot of catching up to do on my posts though that would have to wait because I'm experiencing vertigo every once in a while. Yeah, my world has been spinning literally. :P I have bought a few stuff so I have a lot of review coming up soon.

Anyway, I'm in a coral-pink kick lately and anything of that shade makes my heart skip a beat. Of course, I'm exaggerating on the heart skipping a beat part but yeah, that's how much I love the shade. I'm reviewing one of the products I got from The Big Outlet Sale/Lux Asia Sale last 15 April and that is the Guerlain KissKiss Stick Gloss in 902 Corail Des Mers.

What I like:
- Let me start again with the packaging. It is housed in a very luxurious and elegant looking metal (or tin?) tube. It looks divine!
- The scent isn't as strong as the KissKiss Baby Nourishing Lip Balm in Cherry Summer.
- Texture is glossy, somewhat like that of a tinted lip balm. It is definitely not waxy and it applies smoothly on the lips.s
- The shade, Corail des Mers, looks coral on the tube but on my lips, it turns to a very pretty coral-pink shade.
- Does not dry out my lips.
- Goes on sheer on the lips but intensity of the color is build-able in my opinion.
- I got this on sale for Php 500 instead of the usual mall price, which I am not interested to know.
- Lasts for about 2-3 hours without drinking or eating but leaves a nice sheer tint on the lips.

What I don't like:
- This shade is limited edition so I would have to keep myself from constantly using it so I won't easily run out of it.
- It's easy to run out of it. It takes 2-4 swipes just to get a nice pop of color on the lips (that is if you want it to show up a bit more pigmented)
- No SPF for SPF freaks.

Overall rating: 4.25/5

Will I buy again? When I get the chance to and if it is on sale.
