Rouge A Levres - Lipstick Swatchfest

Howdy? I noticed that recently, I have only been doing swatches and reviews  mostly on blushes so this time, I decided to swatch my very minimal lipstick collection together with a couple more lip products. I will also be including a very brief review and/or description of each product so I can give you an idea on how they work for me. I would like to apologize for the lines on the pictures, my camera, I think, is busted. On to the mini swatch fest.

1. Guerlain Rouge Automatique in Chamade - This is a reddish-pink shade that looks quite similar to MAC Sheen Supreme Ultra Darling on my lips. It's applies very smoothly, glides like butter, and never drying on my lips. It leaves a nice light stain on my lips after a few hours with sips and chews in between. Can be applied sheer or layered for a more opaque and bright colour. Mildly scented. Plus I love the sleek packaging.

2. Guerlain Kiss Kiss Stick Gloss in Corail des Mers - If I want something lighter that will look pretty natural on my lips, this is the one I swipe on 'em. It is glossy on its own and goes on smoothly on the lips. It initially looks a bright coral-pink but it turns to a peachy-pink shade after a while. Has a strong scent that I sometimes cannot tolerate.

3. YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Rose Dahlia - This is the shade I go for when I feel like my skin's dull due to lack of sleep and this immediately brightens up my face. It is a lovely coral-pink shade that is opaque which leaves a pretty stain on the lips. Lasts for a few hours too just like Guerlain Rouge Automatique in Chamade. Has a strong rose scent too that my sense of smell has gotten accustomed to.

4. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in Coral Fauve - My latest acquisition. Lately, I have been into tints and stains as they last longer on my skin and lips so I decided I should give this a try. It is a non-sticky gloss with a reddish coral tint that lasts for hours. It leaves a stain behind even with the gloss going kaput. It is a bright coral-pink upon application but it turns red-coral on me. And if I apply a second coat, the color is intensified making it look red on me. It also amazes me how non-drying it is. Now I love it and I want a pink shade - 15 or 13, perhaps. Sadly, the brand has pulled out and is no longer locally available. Why, Rustan's, why?!!!!!!

5. Chanel Rouge Allure in Comedia - As my very first high end lipstick, this has earned a spot in my heart. The very sleek and classy packaging got me at first glance. The shade is a nice rosy pink-peach shade with nice flecks of gold shimmer that is very fine, giving the lips a certain sheen. It also lasts a couple of hours on my and does not dry my lips either.

6. MAC Sheen Supreme in Ultra Darling - Pardon the different lip pose for this swatch. Anyway, this is a reddish-pink shade just like Guerlain Rouge Automatique in Chamade with a glossy and shiny finish. It also does not dry out my lips and lasts for a few hours. Smells like vanilla too.

7. Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti - I don't know how this particular lippy made it to this date as this has already melted and I can no longer apply it without a lip brush. As the name suggests, it is a lip butter which also melts as quick as butters do when it's hot. While I love the shade and its longevity, it dries my lips. Not happy with this product at all.

8. Model's Own Lip Balm in Tangerine - I love this tinted lip balm and has been my go-to lippy for months now. This is a verrry pigmented tinted lip balm that keeps my lips moisturized through out the day. Shade is red-orange that smells fruity and juicy but can be sheered out by applying very little product on the lips. I also love how long lasting it is and has the ability to brighten my face. And quite inexpensive too, just not locally available. Dang!

 9. Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate - When I want to wear a tinted lip balm that isn't as bright as Model's Own Lip Balm in Tangerine and more natural looking, this is what I dab on my lips. It is a sheer coral-pink shade that is moisturizing with a scent I like too.

10. Sleek Pout Polish in Powder Pink - I received this product from Updated Trends third quarter of last year. This is a sheer candy/baby pink shade that can make me look pale on its own so I usually use this as a base for other lip products or as a gloss on top of a brighter shade to tone it down. This isn't drying and I like how glossy it is.

No lip swatch:

11. Caudalie Paris Lip Conditioner - I don't think there is a point to swatch this since it doesn't have any tint at all. This lip balm rescues my lips from wind burns and when my lips get very dry. I usually apply this before bed time to hydrate my lips and I wake up to softer smoother lips that are less drier than the night before. It has a strong vanilla scent so I do not use this on a regular basis.

12. DLE Cosmetics Light Up Gloss in Pink Fetisssh - see my review HERE.

13. DLE Cosmetics Light Up Gloss in Jess Barely - This is a very basic lip gloss with fancy light up packaging that allows you to apply it even in the dark. It also has a small mirror on the side so it's pretty great for touch ups. It isn't that sticky which is nice. Shade is a very sheer almost translucent pink with shimmers perfect to be used on top of lipsticks.

So that about sums up my lipsticks and other tinted/lip balms. I hope you find something useful on this post.

Have a wonderful weekend, super awesome peeps! Stay tuned for another scheduled post tomorrow! :D

Cheers,

Product Review: Korres Lip Butter Glaze in Pomegranate

A good tinted lip balm is something that moisturizes your lips while making them look pretty with their tints. That is why I love them better than lip sticks and lip glosses. So I am always on the hunt for something that will fit the bill. The latest one I got to try is the Korres Lip Butter Glaze in Pomegranate. I love the regular lip butter of the same shade in a pot so let's see if this is at par with it.

Product Description taken from the Korres website:
Buttery, vibrant color that leaves lips moisturized and supple.

KEY FEATURES & BENEFITS
_Lightweight, moisturizing lip butter glaze imparts vibrant and shiny color
_Creamy blend of lightweight natural oils and extracts to soothe and condition lips
_Smells utterly delicious, and comes packaged in an easy-application tube

AVAILABLE IN
_Pomegranate
_Raspberry
_Wild Rose
_Quince
_Jasmine

AWARD
The Knot Beauty Awards Winner 2010

Active Ingredients taken from the Sephora website:
-Organic Bee Waxes and Sunflower Seed Waxes: Provide a unique soft creamy texture that melts on the lips.
-Certified Organic Sugar Cane: Conditions lips and improves lip texture.
-Pomegranate Fruit Sterols: Hydrate and provide antioxidant protection.

What I like:
- This is pigmented. Much more pigmented than the regular lip butter but you can apply it sheer using just a little of it then pack it on for a more vibrant colour. I can wear this alone and it's enough to complete the look and brighten my face.
- It has a faint scent which I can't tell but it's not annoying.
- Since this is in a squeeze out tube, it is definitely more hygienic as compared to those in pots.
- Can pass as a moisturizing lip gloss that is not sticky and gooey.
- A pretty coral shade. Not as coral-pink as the lip butter of the same shade but I'm cool with it.
- Texture is kinda creamy which is nice but not as buttery as the lip butter.
- This is fairly moisturizing. Once it's gone, my lips still feel smooth.
- Does not contain mineral oil, paraben, propylene glycol, and ethanolamine (whatever the last two are. I didn't do my homework, sorry.)
- Has 10mL of product which I'm sure will last a long time.

What I don't like:
- Not locally available.
- Pretty pricey at $14 for a lip balm. :)
- I don't find it as moisturizing as the lip butter.

Overall rating: 4/5

Will I buy again? Yes. This is the most pigmented tinted lip balm I've ever had. :)

Some Kinda Birthday FOTD

Hello again. I hope you're all having a great start of the week. I'm having a good one so far and as the title suggests, I am a year older again. I celebrated it with a couple of friends and family, of course and I am so thankful for another year, another chapter in my life. Anyway, I would like to share my FOTD (or rather a half FOTD) for the day when I went out earlier. Well, there isn't anything special with this FOTD since I wear pretty much the same look everyday but I thought I'd just share anyway.

I really like this shot. Too bad it's blurred. Don't you just hate it when your favorite picture in the bunch is blurry? Happens all the time. :D

A clearer shot

Current Favorites

Hello dearies. It's a rainy start of the week, I hope you all stay warm and safe. August is finally here and in a few days, I'll be a year older again. Anyway, I'm sharing my favorite products at the moment and a brief explanation as to why they made it on the list.

Let's start with skin care products

1. Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief - I've never had any luck with Clinique's skin care products so I had to keep my fingers crossed that this would work for me without causing me to break out, but didn't have high hopes for it either. Much to my surprise, it works! And it keeps my skin hydrated while keeping the oilies at bay.

2. Caudalie Paris Vinoperfect Night Correcting Cream - I like how my skin is softer, smoother, and brighter upon waking up. First time I used a night cream and I wasn't disappointed at all.

3. Eyebrow growth accelerator - my brows are no longer as thin and sparse as they used to be :D

4. Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV - I wear this when I don't feel like wearing foundation even though this seriously feels like foundation. I like how my skin looks glowing and radiant when I'm wearing this.

5. Becca Mineral Powder Foundation - I initially disliked this product because it didn't do much for oil control but eventually learned to like it. I found out that it does not work with one of the products I use before applying it. I like how it makes my skin tone look a bit more even while providing light coverage.

6. Sigma F80 brush - this is a bb cream/liquid/cream foundation's best friend. It applies makeup flawlessly without eating too much product. It's as if it makes the skin absorb the product, thus, using less and not wasting a lot.

7. Korres Lip Butter Glaze in Pomegranate - I ♡ it because it is coral pink and it keeps my lips moisturized. I can get away wearing just this and no other lip products.

8. Dior Addict High Color Melting Shiny Lipcolor in 432 Rose Orgasme - love the texture of this lipstick, how smoothly it glides on the lips and how gorgeous it looks when paired with Korres Lip Butter Glaze in Pomegranate

9. Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 - I apply this before going to sleep and I wake up with smoother and softer lips.

10. Benefit Posietint - I use this when I want to look fresh without much effort. It instantly brightens the cheeks and a very pretty poppy-pink shade

11. Benefit Coralista - I pair this with Benefit Posietint when I want an added coral-pink glow on the cheeks. Plus I find the tropical scent addicting. :)

12. Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer - I recently reviewed this and love it to bits. I only hope it won't dry out too soon. :)

13. ELF Eyebrow Treat & Tame in Ash - digging the Treat (clear) one as I use it as a base for my eyebrow pencil. I then use Tame to soften the intensity of the pencil's color.

And last but not the least,
14. VO5 Curl Up Control Curl Defining Mousse - my permed hair is no longer all over the place because of this. It does what it's supposed to do and that is to define the curls.

I also have other favorites that are non-beauty related but I'll probably end the post here. I hope you all have a great week ahead of you. :)

What are your current faves?

Happy Monday night, everyone! :P

Product Review: Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate

I ♥ tinted lip balms for the very reason that they moisturize my lips, keeping them soft and supple, while adding a hint of color. That being said, I am going to review another tinted lip balm which has easily become a favorite of mine, in a span of a week or so, and that is Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate.

What I like:
- A very pretty coral-pink shade that goes on sheer adding just the right amount of color. Not as pigmented as MAC TLC in Gentle Coral but nevertheless, a pretty shade. I'm on a coral-pink kick lately so this shade is so me!
- It smells good, somewhat fruity, a little artificial but not something that would really send me to a sneeze fest. In fact, I love the scent. It reminded me of the old L'Oreal lip glosses in pots (that was way back in 2003 or so) but this smells better.
- Moisturizing. May not be as moisturizing as my Mentholatum Lip Ice Lemon but for a tinted lip balm, it is pretty awesome. I apply these on my lips at night and I wake up with softer lips.
- Non-sticky and non-waxy. Melts like butter on the lips and does not sit on top of the puckers.
- I like the cute packaging. I don't really mind using lippies in pots. What are lip brushes invented for?
- Thanks to local resellers like La Petite Confiserie, we can now gain access to these lip butters. Though I got mine on sale at Girltalk.
- The curious cat in me tried this as a cheek tint and it works just as well.

What I don't like:
- May be a bit pricey at $10 in Sephora and Php 620 at La petite Confiserie for a lip balm that only has 6g of product. But then again, I don't mind paying for something that I like and works.
- The packaging is quite bulky and may lead you to think that it contains more product than it actually does.

Overall rating: 4.5/5

Will I buy again? Definitely! :) Since I always end up getting bummed that I can't get hold of MAC TLC Gentle Coral anymore, this is a good substitute.
