Having a skin care product that works for us is not easy to find. After a lot of trials and errors, pimples and tears, it can get frustrating for most of us. And the most common thing about us is that after finding something that do wonders for our skin, we stray and look for something better, gets disappointed, then go back to the other one. Or when we find something better, we still look for something way better and will eventually end up with just the better one. It's a neverending quest for the super awesome product for us. But we all have one product that we always go back to and that, for me, is what I call my Superhero Soap.

Product Review: My Superhero Soap
This is one of those soaps marketed online as formulated by dermatologists. I am usually wary of such products and honest to goodness, why I purchased this soap 2 years ago beats me. When I received this soap for the first time, I was really hesitant to use it as I really do not know where this came from, who is the dermatologist who made, or how it was made so it took me a couple of months before finally deciding to use it on my face. I was expecting the worse so as to not disappoint myself if I break out with it. I mean, c'mon, what can you really expect from an unbranded generic derma soap being sold for only Php75?
To answer that question, what I got from this cheap soap is a better skin that is more even-toned, clearer, and more radiant. If you remember my encounter with the African Black Soap, you will know that this is the soap that salvaged my skin from those nasty red and dark spots and allergic reactions I had with that poop-looking soap. That's why I started calling it My Superhero Soap. When my skin acts up, I use this in tandem with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar used as a toner and I wake up with better skin.
This soap has a pleasant scent, reminiscent of something citrusy and nothing horrid or overpowering. It is sudsy and bubbly and I enjoy using it on my face. But I do not ever let it stay on my face for more than a minute. A lot of girls do that "babad" (drench/soak) thing in soaps. It claims to be whitening but I never really paid much attention if my face got lighter since I am not really after it. I just like how it takes care of my facial skin and most of all, it does not cost an arm and leg. It gives a squeaky clean feel and can be a bit drying (I think this is due to the kojic extract) so it is necessary to moisturize.
Overall, I really like this soap. I think I am on my 3rd or 4th bar and it takes me 4-6 months before using up one bar even with daily use so it is really inexpensive.
Overall rating: 4.5/5
Will I buy again? You bet I will! As long as the seller sells it. :)

ReplyDeleteGale, thanks. I hope you'll find your superhero cleanser too. :P
ReplyDeletehaha totally agree, we are always looking for something way better. but then again if those scar reducing creams actually work or those eye creams actually work then we wouldn't be always looking!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel great when you have something inexpensive that really works???? This is the first time I encountered this product! Such a nice name! SuperherO!
ReplyDeleteJuliepop, yeah. If only they really work as they claim they do. But then, I'm pretty sure a lot of us will keep looking for something better. :P
ReplyDeleteNikki, true! It rescued me from occasional breakouts, thus the name, superhero soap! :P
I used to use a soap like that, too, and it did wonders to my skin. I didn't get break outs and my skin tone improved. However, it also made my skin more sensitive to the sun and I started getting fine lines, too. So I hope you're using a good sunblock and moisturizer to balance the effects of the orange soap. :)
ReplyDeleteEcoBeauty, thanks for the reminder. Yes, I already started using sunblocks and moisturizers. True enough, my skin became more sensitive to the sun and my forehead tans easily. Haha! :P
