Product Review: Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in 74 Comedia

I think I went through another lipstick phase as I purchased several lippies during the holidays. This lipstick started it all - Chanel Rouge Allure in 74 Comedia. It was my very first ever Chanel lipstick and I think it's about time I give it its much-deserved review.

As I have mentioned earlier, this is my first Chanel lipstick. Back then, I was planning to get Rouge Coco Mademoiselle but after trying it out, I found it drying just like what other people said about it. Of course, I couldn't justify why I should pay more than one thousand bucks for a single tube of lipstick that might last me only for a few months. I liked MAC lippies and other drugstore-mid end brands but this single tube of pretty pink shade changed my mind about high end lipsticks.

First of all, the packaging is really sophisticated and smart. Rouge Allure has this click thingie that will prevent the cap from falling off the tube making the chances of ruining your lipstick lesser than most lipsticks housed in packaging. Oh, the first tube of Comedia was a disaster and t'was so bad that I will just skip that part. :P I guess there is just one word to describe the packaging - luxurious.

As for the lipstick itself, I like that it is non-drying. Although I always apply lip balm under any other lip products, I have tried wearing this on its own and it did not in any way dry out my lips. I also like the fact that this is a bit on the sheer side but still leaving enough color on the lips. It can be layered to build the intensity of the colour. It also lasts for a good couple of hours before it completely wears off but my lips still feel moisturized.

There is a mild scent to it that is not overpowering at all and I think my sense of smell has gotten accustomed to it that I actually started liking it. This color is very wearable and you can pull it off without having to care about what time of the day it is. It also has a bit of a gold sheen (tell me if I need to wear glasses again as I see some gold to it) to it which instantly brightens the face. Plus I love the fact that it is not waxy and does not have this funny taste to it.

Swatch

On the lips

Overall, this is a really awesome lipstick which caused me to start venturing into the world of high end lipsticks. I have no regrets except for making my wallet bleed to death that it is already on its death bed. I would gladly repurchase another Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick but I have yet to decide which shade I will get next or if it will just be another tube of Comedia. This is by far the best lipstick I have ever had and I am loving every bit of it.

TIP: This retails for Php1750 at Rustan's. If you have access to Duty Free, might as well just get it there as it costs only $27 which makes it in between Php1200-Php1300 depending on the conversion rate and that will save you almost 500 bucks.

Have you tried this lipstick or other shades perhaps?

Happy Saturday, super awesome peeps! :P
