Product Review: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation

I've had this foundation for a few months now and I've been using it on and off and selling it on and off. I got frustrated when buyers haggle for unrealistic prices (like 500 bucks when the SRP is 2250 bucks) so I decided to just keep it for myself. I got this at the MUFE Counter at EDSA Shang for PHP2250. This is not a good match for me, it was a tad dark. Stupid me just went ahead and bought it after the SA insisted it matches me. And stupid me believed and never went out to check how it looks on me under natural light. THis is the 150 shade and I am a MAC NC30. I think I should've gotten 130 (Warm Ivory) since I am yellow-toned as opposed to 150 (Pink Beige). Enough blabbing and on to the review.

Available in 25 shades, Make Up Forever HD Line was originally created to keep the complexion of the actors looking flawless in the 6x magnification of high definition compared to regular cameras.
The goal is to correct perfectly the complexion while also improving skin aspect.
The product's innovative formulas with ultra fine granulometry meet the higherst standards of both professionals and the everyday woman in daylight.
HD Foundation harmonizes the complaxion and does not accentuate wrinbkles, leaving natural-looking skin.
Its extremely fine texture is supple and easy to apply. Enriched with moisturizing agents, HD Foundation leaves skin soft and radiant.
This new generation of textures leaves your close-up-perfect, yet so natural it won't look like you're wearing any makeup at all.

(Product description taken from the website.)

Formula: (as stated on the website)

Amino acid pigments: they blend better with the skin and offer better hold.
Oil-free texture: natural, non-greasy finish
Sericite: it intensifies the skin's radiance and glow.
Relipidium: it heightens the moisturization of the skin.
Fucogel: It formas a film that protects against dehydration and ensures optimal skin hydration.
Glycerin: moisturizing properties.

This is the only liquid foundation that worked for my oily skin. I have tried a couple of other liquid foundation and I always end up looking like a mess. I like the non-greasy feel since it is oil-free. I don't like oil. :( It is a tad dark on me so I always had to top it off with a foundation that is a tad light on me to make it match my skintone. I was truly amazed when I used the Kryolan Anti-Shine Powder. These two are a good combination (second to Kryolan TV Paint Stick and Anti-Shine Powder). It really looks HD.

My take on this product:

Pros:
- Really high definition, perfect for cameras, very photogenic
- Lasts a long time even on my oily skin
- Has never clogged my pores and really does not emphasize lines
- My skin looks smooth and flawless
- Leaves a rather dewy finish when my face starts to oil up
- Doesn't dry up my skin
- Buildable coverage
- Available locally

Cons:
- Feels heavy on the skin. You feel like you are really wearing make up. (I won't use this everyday)
- Quite pricey for PHOP2250 for 30mL of product.

Overall, I like this product. I have to say again that this is the only liquid foundation that has ever really worked for my oily skin. If only I got the right shade, I would've been more satisfied.

My rating: 4/5

Will I buy again? Maybe not, liquid foundie just isn't for me.

  2. Soapaholic, thanks. :) The magic of HD :D

Jing, yeah. But there are way cheaper alternatives to their silica powder. Why don't you try Kryolan's?

*advertise mode na naman ako ng Kryolan, I should get paid* :P

  5. nice nga ang finish. i've heard so much raves about the HD foundie, pero i can't bring myself to spend that much on it. and 500 for MUFE? oo nga unreasonable naman iyon.

  6. Nikki, correct. I learned from that experience not to fully trust MUAs. Except for those you've been buying from, though.

Golden, at least I was able to sort of remedy it. :P

Crystal, yeah, it is reasonable. Some buyers think you are desperate enough to sell an item that you would give in to any price they want.

I am thinking of mixing this with a really lighter shade of liquid foundie to achieve a good match.
